International Marine Environment Certificate (IMEC)

Superposição com as atividades da IMO? "IMEC is a project aimed at developing a certificate documenting personal environmental skills in marine and maritime issues. Increased and more diversified exploitation of marine resources must necessarily be followed by greater focus on sustainable practices and environmental awareness. In this respect, IMEC will become a supplementary tool in legislation and environmental management systems. The core idea of IMEC is to raise awareness and knowledge of marine environmental issues among staff working at sea. IMEC shall consist of a standardized education package which is common for all the partner countries. IMEC shall offer individuals documented knowledge through an Internet-based certification test. The certificate itself should be made available through a wide range of training possibilities; self study, courses in companies or as one-off courses in existing maritime education institutions.
