USCG – hurricane contingency plans
clip_image005 The National Hurricane Center reports that Tropical Storm Harvey is moving northwest in the Gulf of Mexico, forecast to make landfall near Corpus Christi early Saturday morning. This is a good time masters of ships and operators of facilities to review their emergency plans and to take note of the relevant US Coast Guard hurricane contingency plans. USCG – vessel fined $5,000 for ballast water discharge
clip_image006 The US Coast Guard issued a news release stating that the owners of the bulk carrier ANSAC Moon Bear have been fined $5,000 for the vessel's unauthorized discharge of ballast water into waters of the Willamette River in Portland on 16 August.
