DOS – Zika virus
The Department of State (DOS) issued a notice stating that it has determined that an international outbreak of the Zika virus is sustained, severe, and is spreading internationally, and that it is in the national interest to respond to the related Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Exercising its authority with respect to the Zika virus allows funds made available in the bilateral economic assistance accounts in the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2015 to be used to respond to the Zika outbreak. 81 Fed. DOD – expansion of Zika virus surveillance
The Department of Defense (DOD) issued a news release stating that it is providing $1.76 million in additional funding to military laboratories to expand Zika virus surveillance worldwide and assess the virus' impact on deployed service members' health and readiness.
