USCG – BWM reporting form
clip_image007 The US Coast Guard posted a notice stating that, due to delays in availability of the new ballast water management reporting form, vessels may continue to utilize the old form until 1 May. (2/22/16).
USCG – shale gas extraction waste water
clip_image007[1] The US Coast Guard issued a notice announcing withdrawal of its previously proposed policy letter concerning the carriage of shale gas extraction waste water in bulk via barge. Barge owners may continue to request case-by-case approval to transport such waste water under current regulations by providing recent detailed chemical composition, environmental analyses, and other information for each individual tank barge load. 81 Fed. Singapore – paint thinner in shipboard barbeque pit
clip_image019 The Singapore Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) issued a circular warning against the use of paint thinner and other inappropriate fuels to ignite and sustain barbeque pits on board vessels. It recommends that the ship's safety management system (SMS) be amended to consider the risk of fire and explosion when using inappropriate fuels for such purposes.
