USCG – Zika virus precautions amended
The US Coast Guard posted an amended version of its Marine Safety Information Bulletin regarding Zika virus precautions. The two major amendments are to: (1) clarify that having a person onboard the vessel with Zika-like symptoms does not necessarily constitute a hazardous condition triggering the need to file a report under 33 CFR 160.215; and (2) that the mosquitos that transmit the Zika virus bite mostly during the daytime.
