Court – oil spill response plan review

A majority of the panel of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit denied plaintiff environmental advocacy groups' petition for rehearing in a challenge to the decision of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) to not prepare an environmental impact statement before approving an oil company's oil spill response plan for offshore drilling in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas. Over a vigorous dissent, the majority of the full court denied a petition for rehearing en banc. Alaska Wilderness League v.
