California – no-discharge zone along entire coast
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a news release
stating that it is approving the proposal by the State of California to
ban all sewage from large cruise ships and most other large ocean-going
ships in state marine waters and surrounding islands. The new
restriction, to be published in the near future, will ban even treated
sewage from being discharged in California marine waters by creating a
no-discharge zone that extends along the state’s entire coastline out to
a distance of three nautical miles. (2/9/12). Fonte: Dennis Bryant.
