National Ocean Council – National Ocean Policy Implementation Plan
clip_image004 The National Ocean Council issued the National Ocean Policy Draft Implementation Plan. The plan describes more than 50 actions the federal government can take to improve the health of the oceans, coasts, and Great Lakes. Comments on the draft plan should be submitted by February 27. (1/12/12).
OFAC – implementation of Iranian sanctions
clip_image006 The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a notice stating that it is implementing certain sanctions against persons in accordance with the Iran Sanctions Act. (1/12/12).
FDA – fungicide in OJ from Brazil
clip_image008 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a letter to the US Juice Products Association stating that low levels of the fungicide carbendazium have been found in orange juice imported from Brazil. While use of the fungicide is legal is Brazil, it is illegal in the United States. Further, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has not established an acceptable tolerance level for the fungicide in food. The FDA will be testing imported orange juice for presence of the fungicide and will deny entry to shipments that test positive. (1/9/12). 
Canada – agreement to build Royal Canadian Navy combat vessels
clip_image018 The Government of Canada issued a media release stating that it and Irving Shipbuilding Inc. have reached an agreement I principle that paves the way for construction of combat vessels for the Royal Canadian Navy. (1/12/12). Fonte: Dennis Bryant.
