White House – national emergency re Somalia
The White House issued a notice stating that the national emergency with respect to Somalia has been continued for another year due, in part, to the persistence of acts of piracy and armed robbery against ships at sea off the Somali coast. MARAD – alert southern Red Sea
The Maritime Administration (MARAD) posted a maritime alert concerning an incident in the southern Red Sea. USCG – two BWMS type approval applications received
The US Coast Guard posted a bulletin stating that the Marine Safety Center (MSC) received two applications for ballast water management system (BWMS type approval. One application was for the BallastAce system manufactured by JFE Engineering Corporation. The other application was for the GloEn-Patrol system manufactured by Panasia Co., Ltd.
