IMO – MARPOL amendments

The IMO issued a news release reminding stakeholders of amendments to the MARPOL Convention that entered into force on 1 March. These amendments include changes regarding ship fuel oil reporting requirements, garbage classification, and the IOPP Certificate. Strait of Malacca – hydrographic survey

The Singapore Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) issued a news release stating that the second phase of a joint hydrographic survey of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore (SOMS) by the three littoral States – Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore – and the Malacca Strait Council of Japan officially commenced today.  Phase Two will cover waters shallower than 30 meters within the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) from One Fathom Bank in the Malacca Strait to Horsburgh Lighthouse at the eastern entrance to the Singapore Strait.
