The National Academies Press (NAP) issued a report entitled: "Sustaining Ocean Observations to Understand Future Changes in Earth's Climate". The report notes that flat or declining funding is creating challenges to continuing observation of the world's oceans. Canada – Wrecked, Abandoned, or Hazardous Vessels Act
Transport Canada issued a news release stating that the Wrecked, Abandoned, or Hazardous Vessels Act has been introduced in Parliament. The measure will prohibit vessel abandonment and strengthen owner responsibility for hazardous vessels and wrecks.
