Bloco de Gelo do Tamanho de Manhatan se Desprende da Antártica - Fotos do Landsat 8 (Nasa)

The top image shows the area on January 24, 2017, while the second image here shows the same area on January 26, when the area was still intact - although cracks can be seen beginning to form.
NASA's Landsat 8 captured the shocking moment a giant chunk of ice detached from the Pine Island glacier, one of the main glaciers responsible for moving ice from the interior of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet to the ocean.   About a kilometer or two of ice appears to have calved (broken off) from the shelf's front.
