USCG – support re Honolulu molasses spill

The US Coast Guard issued a news release stating that it is supporting Hawaii's response to the Honolulu Harbor molasses spill. A second news release states that an interagency task force is taking water samples as part of an effort to analyze the effects of the spill. (9/14/13).

Northern Sea Route – holed tanker now under escort

The Russian Northern Sea Route Information Office (NSRIO) issued a news release stating that the tanker Nordvik, which was holed by ice while transiting a portion of the Northern Sea Route without authority, has transferred its cargo of diesel fuel to another tanker and is being escorted to port by two nuclear-powered icebreakers.
