Gulf of Aden – tanker hijacked by pirates - The US Navy issued a media release stating that the tanker St. James Park was hijacked by pirates while transiting the Internationally Recognized Transit Corridor (IRTC). The tanker is the first to be successfully hijacked while transiting the IRTC) since its establishment. Nearby naval units were not called until the tanker activated its ship security alert system (SSAS) after the pirates were on board. (12/29/09). Fonte: Dennis Bryant.
